Too regular and watered-down bowel movements are known as Diarrhea. Generally they are caused by germs, sensitivity, a bacterial infection or side effects of medication. The hazardous thing is that diarrhea can cause dehydration. Normally, infants have 12 small bowel movements a day, which gradually reduce to once a day once they are 3 months. Diarrhea can be when the frequency of bowel movements increases suddenly along with the water content. When your baby suffers from diarrhea make sure to give them as much feed as they like. To restore the essential fluids in the baby consult your doctor for giving the baby an oral rehydration solution.

Inform the doctor about the baby’s motion frequency, the difference from the usual and other details. If the baby has fever along with diarrhea or if he/she is passing blood in her stools visit the doctor immediately. Even if you observe dehydration symptoms like dry eyes, mouth, lethargy, etc. For older babies and young children who consume solid foods, parents should give them a lot of fluids and very little food so that fiber and fat are bulked up and the frequency of stool is reduced. Therefore, loss of water with the stools is decreased and the risk of dehydration is gradually reduced too.

Yogurt contains bacteria which are good for digestion, so you can give yogurt to your baby. Also, oatmeal in a little milk helps to control diarrhea. If your baby suffers from vomiting, give him clear fluids with salt or sugar, like juice (diluted). Avoid giving newborns any kind of anti-diarrhea medicines as they may not suit the baby and increase the infection. They may also have a lot of side effects.

Diarrhea is common among babies and there is nothing to worry about it. If it’s an extreme case it is important for every parent to consult their doctor.

In a village, a shepherd had hundreds of goats. Daily he used to take it to the field under a mountain. There he leaves his goats to graze and he takes rest under a huge tree till afternoon. After his lunch he sleeps for an hour and then at evening he returns to his house with the goats.

One day at evening, the climate was very pleasant and it started to drizzle. The shepherd thought surely the black clouds will bring heavy rain. So, he gathered his goats and started to move towards the house. While he stepped ten feet from the hill he heard a murmuring sound. He followed the sound and stood before a huge rock. Behind the rock a small wolf was lying down with shivering. He took pity on it and decided to take care of it. He carried it on his shoulder to his house.

He gave goat’s milk to it. It drank and felt comfort in the shepherd’s house. For few months the shepherd provided goat’s milk and cow’s milk to the wolf. It grew very fatty and healthy. Now the shepherd gave training to the wolf to safeguard and how to protect the goat. All over the night the wolf watched and truly served for the shepherd.

On seeing the wolf’s responsibility the shepherd felt very happy. He believed the wolf and slept inside his house peacefully.

Days rolled on. The shepherd realized that some goats were missing. One mid-night he went to his herd. He saw that the goats were sleeping but the wolf was not there. So, he searched the wolf nearby. Suddenly, he heard a goat’s bleat from the bush. Immediately, he rushed to the bush and there he saw that the wolf had killed the goat and started to feed on it. The shepherd got very angry and started to beat the wolf with a wood stick behind the bush. With pain the wolf died.

The following morning he said to the neighbour’s and street passers about the wolf’s deed, “whatever creature it might be, surely one day or the other it will show its nature’s attribute. The wolf taught a lesson for me. It is impossible to change its nature’s attribute.”

Baby acne is a common thing among new born babies, usually up to six months old. It usually worries every mother but it can be handled. Small red rashes or raised bumps are included in baby acne. They are not permanent and vanish within a couple of days.

Usually acne on babies occurs because of the maternal hormones which the baby inherits during the final months of pregnancy through the placenta. The question is how to treat baby acne?

First of all you should avoid panicking since its temporary. There is no real treatment for Acne. Keeping the baby’s face and body clean and hygienic, using mild baby soap and a soft towel to wipe your baby, using baby products to wash baby clothes are some precautions that should be taken.

It’s not true that if your baby has acne as a baby she will also have acne when she is an adolescent. One of the most common treatments for baby acne is vinegar solution. There are a couple of baby products that contain vinegar and are used for baby acne. You should always check the ingredients before applying them. Vinegar also has no side effects.

Oral medicines which are used for treating adult acne should be completely avoided. Avoid scrubbing because the baby’s skin is very delicate and it may cause nuisance.

Doctors usually recommend no medication for baby acne and request parents to clean the baby’s body with mild cleansers around two times a day.

Baby acne is a phase which almost every baby goes through. However, there is nothing to get scared of. It’s short-termed and can be dealt with easily. Maintaining hygienic is mandatory and a few precautions can help. You can refer to the above mentioned things and consult a pediatrician incase of extreme acne or rashes.

Sometimes mothers are just unable to understand why babies cry inspite of all the babies’ needs being taken care of. Some research study has indicated that four out of five babies have daily crying sessions which last from fifteen minutes to an hour for no apparent reason. These crying sessions usually occur in the evening. Sometimes, babies cry because they experience a sensory overload. For the baby it could be the end of a tiring day, and that is why babies would like to relax by having a good cry.

Like adults, babies need change too. Mothers sometimes are tired of pampering their wailing baby especially when they just don’t stop to cry. Babies too need to see fresh faces. Give your baby a change – a change of people, a change of place. Stressed mothers can hardly do things to stop their babies from crying. Babies are good with understanding mother’s tension and frustration and will respond with nothing but more tears. For a day, let the fathers or someone else in the house take over.

Babies can also cry if they are bored. Babies too need entertainment and cannot sleep and stare the world. Let the whole family sit with the baby and have some hearty laughs. Your baby will catch the happy vibrations and feel start feeling good. This does not mean giving toys to the baby and leaving him or her with it. Spend happy time with them and do something that is usually not a part of your daily routine. Sometimes your baby needs some fresh air. Taking your baby outdoors will often dramatically improve her mood. Taking her for a drive or take him to a garden and see how their mood changes.

Crying is the first form of baby talk and it is the only way your baby communicates to you to tell you about his/her hunger, his/her pain, his/her happiness, his/her feeling etc. Mothers can understand from the difference in the cry as to why her baby is crying and she [provides the baby with the necessity. It is over a period of time that your baby becomes more self-reliant and a better communicator to tell you what he or she wants.

Usually babies cry when they are hungry. Some parents begin to catch the cry of hunger at a very early age. It has been observed over the years that the feeling of a full stomach gives a lot of comfort to the baby. Babies also sometimes cry to themselves because of fatigue. Parents get worried and apprehensive with this. However, there is no need to panic. Your baby will eventually outgrow this habit. Parents should try and not pick the baby up, attempting to soothe the baby as this will make it difficult for the baby to learn to fall asleep on his own. A regular bedtime routine and adequate rest during the day is what should be taken care of.

Babies also cry because of indigestion and stomach pain. If you feel that your baby is suffering and crying because of stomach ache and indigestion it is advisable to take your baby to the doctor. Try and observe the food that is not suiting your baby. For example, some babies are not able to digest a particular type of milk and may cry because that is what is causing the trouble to the baby. In order to relieve this pain, many Indian mothers prefer to give their babies gripe water. Although the medical benefits of gripe are still not clear. Babies also cry because they often feel uncomfortable if they have swallowed air. Parents can take a few precautionary measures to prevent this happening. Keep the baby upright as this will help them to swallow less air while feeding.

Parenting is a pleasant experience for new parents. This is a phase in life which is like a blessing in disguise. Parenting is also an instinct and there is no need to actually tell a parent how to hold the child or explain matters on hygiene. New born baby care for first time mums is an overwhelming experience. All mums know by instinct that their child is hungry and spend giving quality time to nurse the baby.

With so much of modernization, it is convenient to invest in baby products. The baby cot is a safe environment which can be installed along with the beeper. The cot also has protective varnish on the sides that does not chip easily. Supervising the child at all times is necessary and for emergencies the beep is a dependable gadget to alert you.

Working moms can also seek the comfort of expressing milk through breast pumps and refrigerating the same. The care giver can feed the baby at regular intervals. The pumps and container need to be sterilized. Weaning the baby is a personal decision though pediatricians recommend 2 years of feeding to improve the immunity of the child. Talking to the new born is a way to establish a bond. The gibberish coos and gurgles are all signs of acknowledgement along with the crooked smile and squinted glances.

New borns take time to focus and their eyes are yet to gain strength. Their skin is extremely sensitive and finger massage is the best way to soothe them. Oil, soap, powder or moisturizer of sutiable brands is available in the market but consulting the doctor is vital before beginning on a routine. Baby care can also be exhausting and hence every parent must be practical in taking care of their own self.

Broken nights and sleepless days happen in the beginning and small children are also prone to nasal congestion and cough. With time and patience every parent learns to cope up with children’s illness as the true joy lies in seeing the child achieve his or her milestones is exciting.

Making your child wear shoes is indeed no child’s play. Many a times parents come across situations where they have to force their little ones to wear shoes and sometimes this becomes quite a nightmare for poor mummies and daddies. Parents especially the first timers usually receive so many advices from their elder ones that they are constantly worried about their babies; however the idea is to not fret. There is nothing drastically wrong about not wearing shoes. The feet of a baby are constantly developing and the fact is that being barefoot actually helps to strengthen foot muscles and promote balance. Somehow parents have a misconception that babies who wear shoes learn to walk faster. This is absolutely a myth. There has been no research to validate this belief.

Parents should remember that they should leave their babies barefoot as much as possible. Let your baby experience different surfaces such as grass, marble, and sand and others.
So the next question that parents have is what kind of shoes should they buy for their children? Buy Shoes with a thin, soft sole that will help your baby to feel the ground. Buy shoes of a lighter material for your child’s comfort. This will also help the foot to develop. Prefer canvas shoes than synthetic shoes, as they promote circulation of air. Check the flexibility of the shoes before buying. Last but not the least, choose the right size. Tight shoes can confine the natural growth of your baby’s feet. And bigger size tends to come off easily.

Bed wetting or sleep wetting is referred to the passing of urine while sleeping. It is commonly seen in young children. There are a number of causes for bed wetting. It can be hereditary, physical causes, psychological causes or stress.

In maximum cases, bed wetting is inherited. If the parent suffered from bed wetting, then the chances of the child to become a bed wetter increase. Also it can be due to physical traits. Children with a relatively small bladder or a problem with the valve tend to suffer from bed wetting. Constipated children are prone to experience bed wetting. Bed wetting can also happen due to psychological or neurological reasons. Sometimes the brain takes time to develop and it cannot control the bladder at an early age. Stress is another major reason for children suffering from bed wetting.
Children who undergo stress due to reasons like conflict between parents, domestic abuse, peer pressure, etc are likely to start wetting the bed.

Children suffering from bed wetting have low self-esteem and low self-confidence. They are often teased by friends and peers and punished by uninformed and ignorant parents. Parents should remember that bed wetting is unintentional and unintended.

Parents can take a few measures to help their children when it comes to bed wetting. Avoid letting them consume any liquid a few hours before they go off to bed. Also, make him go to the toilet before going to bed. Ensure that your child is wearing warm nightwear because a drop in the temperature increases the chances of bed wetting. Consulting a doctor is very important as he may subscribe medical cure as well as notify you about the exact cause.

Bed wetting is not a disease but just a temporary condition. Children should not be avoided or punished because of this. Parents should understand and also make their children realize that it is a very normal condition and will be gradually cured with time.

Your baby’s ability to walk develops around the same time as the development of his/her mind and his/her persona. Parents usually force their baby to wear shoes, but the little one throws tantrums and removes them with tears in his/her eyes. He/she has a mind of his own, which he/she demonstrates and wants to do things according to what his/her mind and heart tells him/her. Babies are not accustomed to wearing shoes and probably they view shoes as an object forced on their body, because they feel that it is not part of his body, their instant reaction is to remove them. So the million dollar question arises how can you possibly make your child wear shoes?

Parents should try and make the shoe wearing session a fun session. You can sing, dance, laugh, clap, praise, and entertain the child while you slip a shoe on his foot. Do not scold the child for not wearing his shoes. Also, do not yell, shout or associate any negative reaction with wearing shoes. Avoid force completely. It never works. Children always do what they feel like. If you force him hundred times he will remove his shoes hundred times. Remember the famous monkey and the cap seller story. It works with your baby as well. Your baby will try to imitate adults around him. Wear your own shoes first and your baby will follow you. While shoe shopping let your baby chooses what shoes he or she would like to wear. Try and choose colourful shoes which are attractive which he or she might want to put his/her feet in.
