Massaging is one of the vital elements in the growing up stage of babies. According to one study, regular massage often results in babies gaining more weight. It also affects positively in terms of alertness and high activity. Regular massage helps babies in mature neurological development compared to babies that are not massaged. Massaging refers to sense of touch and surprisingly this sense is felt by human embryos that are just eight weeks old. The sensitive skin does it for the foetus. So why massaging is important for babies?

The single most important fact comes out in the open when we imagine the situation of a baby who has just come out of the comfort of mother’s womb. The world will seem a strange place and everything will appear unfamiliar. Even as adult we find it difficult to adjust to new surroundings so thinking from a baby’s point of view, it must be quite difficult. Massage in the initial phase must be feeling like a strange experience. But slowly, a baby gets used to it and consequently it helps her in understanding and practicing input and she responds it with relaxed demeanour. A massage is often accompanied by soothing voice and comfortable physical contact so that makes it an overall pleasurable experience for the baby.

Human bonding is enhanced by sense of touch. Similarly, a bond between mother and child is strengthened by touch. Massaging acts as most basic method of bonding between the parents and baby. Massaging acts as a powerful tool and parents must ensure regular massage for their babies.

The skin of baby is very sensitive. That makes it quite imperative for parents, especially mother to understand the skin of the babies. We should also know why some babies are born with acne. Quite often, new born babies also develop severe acne in the first few weeks of the birth. The reason is, hormonal changes taking place in mothers during pregnancy. Apart from hormones, iron and calcium also get passed to the babies and a combination of these elements can cause acne in babies.

Quite a number of parents complain and worry about acne. But the fact is these acne disappear after few months. Once the hormone factor gets stabilised, the skin tends to settle down and it again becomes totally smooth and blemish free. Just make sure, mothers are not using harsh soap on skin for removing rashes. That will further deteriorate the skin. There are several forms of acne that might trouble your cute baby.

One of the common forms of skin irritation is diaper rash. It takes place in the diaper area and often cause attributed to stool and urine. Another possibility of this irritation could be allergy to diaper. If your baby develops diaper rash, mother should keep the area clean and dry. If the area is exposed to air that would also work in his favour. Apply soothing cream to the place and always wash the area with warm water.

When the baby develops crusty patches on the scalp, it is known as cradle cap. Mostly, oil producing glands on the scalp cause this problem. The solution is to use baby shampoo on a regular basis. Keep the area clean and it won’t take much before the cradle cap is gone. Heat rush is another form of irritant that babies are susceptible to. To avoid this condition try to keep baby in airy surroundings and place must be well ventilated. Make sure to use sunscreen on his skin for further protection.

It gives immense joy to every parent to watch their baby start eating solid foods. It’s enjoyable to see the baby’s facial expressions in reaction to the different tastes. On the intake on some foods, the baby’s face lights up with joy and his/her face scrunches up on eating the others. On the journey to becoming a toddler, your child develops liking and disliking for specific foods, and usually, the food that he/she likes, lacks nutrition.

To increase your toddler’s nutrition, make the best of what he/she enjoys eating. If he likes grilled cheese, use brown bread instead of white. Make sure it includes whole wheat as an ingredient. Also, parents can add flavors to their child’s meal. Ketchup can be added to enhance the taste. Children love dipping their food in sauce. You can keep carrots along with ketchup or any other sauce that he like eating, and undoubtedly he would not think twice before eating the carrot.

Moreover, parents can decorate foodstuffs and make them look fancy. Like make a face with a dressing of fruits. This would appeal to the kids and add the face value of the foods. If your child hates eating the proper “roti-bhaaji”, wrap it up like a Frankie and add some flavor to it. Hide the stuff which your toddler is not fond of. Slice vegetables into pasta sauce. Be certain that the vegetables are properly covered.
It is important for every child to have a balanced diet. But this doesn’t mean keeping him completely away from junk. Allow your child to eat junk once in a while.

Besides, children tend to imitate their parents. If you eat fried chips, your child will ask for the same. If you eat healthy food, your child will demand the same. Therefore, it is important for every parent to be careful while eating in front of their child.

If your child is facing any kind of malnutrition problems, it is best to consult a pediatrician and find out the actual reason. A strong and fit base is very important for the healthy future of every child.

Breastfeeding vs. Bottle Feeding

baby bottle :

This is the first decision you will need to make, and you will find very strong opinions about this subject. Most doctors agree breast milk is best for babies, at least during the first few weeks, as it is a rich source of antibodies and nutrition. However, modern science has created many different infant formulas that also provide excellent nutrition for your baby.

Talk with your doctor about this in detail, gathering as much information as you can. Consider also your own preferences and lifestyle needs. Breastfeeding is a powerful bonding experience for mother and baby, but sometimes fathers can feel left out of the process. Breast milk is very convenient, too, because it’s always ready to go and at just the right temperature. If you breastfeed exclusively then keep in mind that you will need to be easily accessible to your baby at all times. This can become tiring for some women, while others find it to be extremely satisfying.

If you prefer to bottle feed, do not allow anyone to make you feel guilty about it! It is a perfectly acceptable way to provide the nutrition your child needs, and you will still maintain the close bonding that comes with the feeding process. Talk with your doctor about choices of formula; most can provide you with several different formula samples, which allows you to easily find the one best suited for your baby.

Finally, consider that breastfeeding and bottle feeding do not have to be either/or choices. You can combine these approaches in a number of ways to create the feeding process that balances the needs of you and your baby. For instance, you can pump breast milk to be fed from a bottle if you are not going to be nearby, or to give the father a chance to bond with the baby. You can mix breast milk and formula together, or use just formula. Some mothers will breastfeed morning, evening, and during the night and feed from a bottle during the day. Let your baby help guide the decision, as he or she will very likely settle into a routine that feels safe and comfortable.

Solid Foods

You will find varying recommendations about when to start introducing solid foods to your baby. Some experts say you can do so as early as three or four months of age, while others recommend waiting until six months or older. Again, discuss this with your doctor to get his or her professional advice on the subject.

Another consideration is the source of solid foods you will use. Commercially prepared baby foods contain all of the nutrition your child needs, but some people have a strong preference for organic or natural foods. Some mothers even make their own baby food, using fresh fruits and vegetables and a food processor. If you choose to make your own baby food, be sure to learn the correct methods to ensure the food is safe and properly preserved.

A baby that receives proper nutrition will be healthy and grow appropriately. There are many different ways to provide the necessary nutrition to your child, so investigate different approaches to find out more about them. Talk with your doctor about the advantages and disadvantages, and then select the approach that you think will work best for you. Be open and flexible, as your baby may end up having different preferences and needs requiring you to make changes to your health and nutrition approach.
