Every parent worries about how to take care of their new born baby and their hygiene. Whether are they supposed to be given a bath every day or not? The fact is that a new born baby doesn’t need to be given a bath every day.
There is something called as topping and tailing that should be followed. Topping and tailing basically means cleaning only those parts of your baby’s body that actually need to be cleaned. These include hands, face, neck and the nappy area. Let’s see how you can go about it.

1)
Begin with the face by using cotton wool wetted in cooled boiled water. clean each eye from inside to out. Use a different cotton for each wipe. In the end, dry the face with a soft towel.
2)
For the ears, clean only the back and the outside. Make sure that the cotton is clean every time. And dry the ear after cleaning. Avoid putting anything inside the ear to clean it.
3)
Then, dab around the lips and nose as milk usually dribbles. Dab the cheeks and forehead as well and dry with a towel.
4)
Clean below the jaw and collar lines with clean damp cotton wool, as sweat, dust, and milk drips are likely to gather here and can bother the skin. Dry properly.
5)
Carry on wiping under the arms with cotton wool, tenderly pulling the arms up to level out the lines. Unbend the child’s fists to clean the hands and between the fingers. Make sure that these areas are absolutely dry before going on.
6)
lastly, rinse the nappy area using bits of cotton wool immersed in lukewarm water with baby soap added to it. wipe it dry and apply cream or baby powder.

These steps are more than enough to keep the baby clean and hygienic.
